SET YOUR TERMS

The #1 Rule of Contracts is that whenever you have the chance to dictate the terms, you take it. Because there's a big difference between having a contract and having a contract that works to your advantage.

One that protects you from scope creep and project delays and gives you the leverage you need to motivate your client to respond to your last email and pay you on time.

Most People Think Getting a Contract Is an A to B Process

You go from not having a contract to having one. That's it. The end. But if you want:

  • More control over your client projects

  • To say goodbye to scope creep and your days of working for free

  • The ability to predict when you can and can't take on new projects

Then you need more than a contract; you need a contract that gives you options because it

  • Outlines procedures for how you'll deal with scope creep, project delays, late payments, and disputes.

  • Withholds certain rights from your clients until they pay you in full so you don't feel like your only options are to find and hire a lawyer or accept that your client refuses to pay

  • Gives you the right to cancel the contract when your client is wasting your time.

This is the thrill of being able to set the terms.

Here's how you'll learn to Set The Terms

Lawyer-Drafted Template Contracts

In the introduction to the course, you'll have the opportunity to download a lawyer-drafted template freelance writing contract or a consulting contract. Not one I found on the internet, but an actual template based on the many customized contracts I've written for freelancers and consultants in the past as a lawyer.

Scopes of Work that Work

A breakdown of scopes of work that work for both project and retainer clients. I'll show you how to write scopes of work with clear services, deliverables, and payment schedules so you set clear expectations with your client.

Optional Clause Addendum

An optional clause addendum for things like late fees, kill fees, and AI usage. You'll have an example or two of the language you can use for each type of clause, how to use it, and what it accomplishes

Start Setting Your Terms

Each section of the course includes a video walkthrough of me explaining what the legal issues is, what it means, and the purpose it serves in your contract so you're never left guessing about what's in your contract and why.

The Lawless Lawyer

Hi, I'm Brionna

I've been a lawyer for 12 years. I've worked as a litigator in big law and as in-house and fractional counsel for startups. I've also owned a 6-figure consulting agency. That means I've set up the legal for a lot of businesses and am an expert at helping entrepeneurs figure out which legal issue matters and when. The goals of my work are always to:

  • Give you the legal knowledge you need to leverage the expertise you bring to your client's table

  • Equip you with the legal tools and strategies you need to achieve your business goals, whatever they may be

  • Teach you to think like a lawyer so you can stay where you belong: firmly in the driver's seat of your own business
